BLACK ISLE MEN'S SHED
The Black Isle Men's Shed, established in 2018, serves as a community space for men to engage in practical projects, socialize, and share skills. The group has developed its facilities within the Avoch Community Centre and in Feddanhill Wood.
Men's Sheds offer valuable opportunities for social interaction and community involvement, contributing positively to mental and physical well-being. They provide a supportive environment where members can work on meaningful projects, fostering friendships and a sense of purpose.
BLACK ISLE CARES
Black Isle Cares was established as a charity in 2015 to support the needs of the most vulnerable in our community.
It’s a voluntary body - its services provided by volunteers - and relies very much on local fundraising and generosity. Amongst its highly valued services are ‘Meals at Home’ and face-to-face Befriending.

Part of Transition Black Isle, it is a community-led initiative designed to help people borrow instead of buy, reduce waste, and foster a culture of sharing and sustainability. The library has over 150 items that can be borrowed, ranging from tools and gardening equipment, to high chairs, travel cots and gazebos.
The library is open a couple of times a week to pick up items, and for receiving new donations. Opening hours are Thursdays 4.30-6.30 and Saturday 10am-12pm. Standard annual membership is £20 with concessions £12 and an opportunity to pay a bit more to support the project. Join and be part of something meaningful! Why not drop in for a look, or contact the team at BIlibraryofthings@transitionblackisle.org

TRANSITION BLACK ISLE
Transition Black Isle is part of the worldwide Transition movement. Its role is to help Black Isle communities thrive in the face of climate change and disruption to global resources. Activities include encouraging non-car travel, promoting energy saving measures, running community markets, supporting local food producers as well as helping people to grow more of their own food and to make their own compost.
As a partner in the Highland Community Waste Partnership, TBI works with the community to reduce waste and consumption and increase reuse, repair and recycling.
