Avoch & Killen
SHARING SHED
The community council is proud to be the sponsoring body of
The Avoch & Killen Sharing Shed, a community food larder, established to support local residents by providing access to non-perishable food items and other items. Situated at the Avoch Pavilion fence in the George Street car park, the shed operates with the help of volunteers from the community.
This initiative is part of a broader movement across the Black Isle, where similar Sharing Sheds and Community Larders have been set up to promote food sharing and reduce waste. Residents are encouraged to donate items they can spare and take what they need.
The shed is typically well-stocked thanks to the generosity of the community and local businesses in particular ScotMid, who run the village store.
Regular drop-offs are made by FareShare, who distribute surplus food from the food industry to sharing sheds across the Highlands.
The shed operates on a self-service basis, allowing individuals to access necessities discreetly and at their convenience. For more information please contact the Avoch & Killen Community Council using the contact form here.
